Dear property owner: 

On August 2^nd, 2005 the South Milwaukee Common Council passed the Fire Prevention, Protection, and Control Code.  This Code was drafted by the South Milwaukee Fire Department and six of our surrounding communities with the intent to have a uniform fire prevention code between our Cities and Villages. 

This Fire Prevention Code has some changes from our old Fire Prevention Code that may have an impact on your property. The items showed on the following page are those changes that may affect your property. 

Your property will have one year from the date of this letter to have an “Access Box” installed. Applications for the purchase of the “Access Box” must be obtained from the South Milwaukee Fire Departments Fire Prevention Bureau or on the internet at:

www.knoxbox.com . The cost of the “Access Box” is around $150.00.
